Boy Thoughts

I must admit, since we found out, I've had the Phil Collins song "Against All Odds" running through my mind. I actually like that song quite a bit. Might be my favorite Phil Collins song, but there are so many hits - so maybe not. Of course, only the title applies to our situation. :) But right before the ultrasound, we met with the OB who said that the more of one gender you have, the more likely you are to have that same gender. Is that really true? I don't know. But even the OB was putting her money on a girl. So was I.

Evidently boys are magical or something because everyone is going crazy about the news. Two of my friends said they cried! What?! I would never cry over something like that and we're talking about my child here! I definitely wish I were more emotional at times, but you know, you just can't work those things up. Actually, my mind first went to how I was excited to get rid of a bunch of girls clothes that I'm sick of looking at. How's that for sentimental?

Everyone has also been asking how we responded during the ultrasound. When the tech asked if we wanted to know (which, of course, we said, "YES!") and then typed "It's a boy" on the screen, I sat up in the chair and said, "NO WAY!!!!!! What?! Where?!" (We have only seen arrows pointing to va-jayjays so I couldn't even tell on the screen until she pointed it out.) And that was about it. We waited for her to go through all the necessary things for about 45 more minutes and then she left. We smiled. Went to lunch. Couldn't think of names. No display of emotions in this house! :) But, yes. We are very excited for this new adventure, we just express that in a calm way.

Here are some flowers Russ brought home for me the day of our ultrasound. I love him.

I have to be honest though...thinking that this may be our last (jury is still out but who would want to do this FIVE times in a row?), I was kind of sad thinking that we may never have a baby girl in the house again. I love baby girls. And ours are the sweetest! And Ya is already a big girl! But the Lord knows the plans he has for our family, which definitely included a wonderful little boy. I am still in shock but I'm sure that in a year I'll look back on this post and wonder how I could've ever lived without this sweet baby.

Speaking of sweet... Here's a picture of our new nephew Luke! He was not quite a day old in this picture - born yesterday morning. Praise the Lord!

It's A Boy!!!!

We are in shock! And thankful! Ultrasound went well and showed that all was well with our baby BOY. Wow. 19.5 weeks along. One hot, long summer to go...

Boy or Goy?

Here's the girls with their babies in their tummies. They love to talk about babies in tummies! When I ask them what they think our new baby is they both say girl, which Ruthie pronounces "goy." Confidently. We've tried to slowly sound out G-IRRRRRL with her, but it always ends up being "goy."

So, what say you? Boy or Goy? We have our ultrasound on Tuesday. If you leave a comment saying what you think it is, I promise to text you before anyone else! That's the best prize (that doesn't cost me anything :) that I can think of. Stakes are high! Are we a girl family, or did a little brother sneak in? I don't care which, I just want to KNOOOOWWWWW!

Also, I finally felt the baby move! Took a while this time, but now s/he is crazy! Always at night, of course...

Loud Lyd

I knew it was going to happen one of these days. Sweet little Lydie has come into her own in the last week or two. I can not believe how loud she is! I think she's our loudest kid yet. She learned how to say "no," (which sounds more like "neh") and it is her go-to word for everything. She tells us no, she tells her sisters no, she tells her babies no, and she even tells herself no quite a bit. But it is usually accompanied by a little tantrum, at least when she is addressing her parents. She's been taking it out of me this week!! But then tonight we realized that she is teething again (I feel like she's always teething - must have twenty sets of molars or something) and I'm hoping that is the reason for the ornery behavior - or as least some of the reason. There are sooooo many things to love about Lydie though, like her dimples, her big brown eyes, her incredible sleeping habits, her sweet little laugh... I could go on... So I guess can handle a little crankiness from time to time, even if it comes in a loud kind-of-a way.

Side note: Please pray for her breathing. She is wheezing again, which means multiple nebulizer treatments a day (We aim for 4 treatments which are about 15-20 minutes each = annoying for mommy and baby!!!) She has a cough that just won't go away and well, I'm just tired of the sickness and these treatments, so please pray for her to be done with this. I'm hoping that the wheezing doesn't last beyond this present cough/congestion, but the doctors said it might. Just need to wait and see and PRAY!

Noa's 4th Birthday Party

Finally getting around to getting these picture off of my phone. So many princesses!

Noa, Carson, Ruthie

Princess Noa before the party (about to go crazy, I might add...)

Addy & Noa

Noa & Ruthie

Farah Beth & Noa

Noa & Lilly

Noa & Gracie

Princess Ya slept through the whole party, but here's a picture of the dress she would have worn. One of my faves...

Noa's meticulous and orderly way of decorating her cupcake - the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Ruthie's make up application was actually quite good (and very blue), despite the one blue streak down her cheek.

I'm not sure why these pictures are so small. Maybe because they came from the phone??? Anyway, we had a great day. Pinata. Decorating cupcakes. Putting on make-up. Being girls. I imagine there will be many more of these parties to come. Thanks to everyone who came and celebrated our special little 4 year old! We are blessed to have you in our lives.

Another week...

These pictures aren't from this week, but let's be honest - you would never know that if I didn't tell you. All of our weeks bleed into the next anyway, so it might as well be this week. :)

Everyone! Get in your boats!!
The girls have been obsessed with watching Kari Jobe on Youtube (I'm not sure how this started). Anyway, lately Kari's been wearing her hair in these headbands that are all 70's-ish. I can't take it. It is so over the top for me. Of course, I wouldn't have time to do my hair like that if I wanted to, and we'll all probably have that hair style in 5 years. But anyway, the girls have been wanting that same look and keep putting headbands, strings, belts, whatever, around their heads to be "Kari Jobe." It actually looks kind of painful, but they love it.

And just so we don't leave her out, here's Baby Ya. She is every bit as sweet and edible as she looks in this picture. She is such a blessing to us!

Ya

Our friend Sally posted these pictures of Ya and I just had to quickly share. Thanks, Sally!
